Dear Tom Brady: Save some athleticism for the rest of us.
We all know what the New England Patriots quarterback can do on the football field. But judging by Brady’s, well, lack of world-class speed, you wouldn’t think he’d excel off the gridiron.
That’s what Keegan Bradley thought, until he got a glimpse of the 37-year-old in action.
Bradley was in the Bahamas this weekend and participated in the now-famous pickup basketball game with Brady and Michael Jordan. It’s safe to say the PGA golfer was impressed with Tom Terrific’s hoop skills.
“All I hear about Brady is he’s this unathletic quarterback and he’s not mobile,” Keegan Bradley told ESPN Radio’s SVP & Russillo on Monday. “You should see him on the basketball court. He’s so athletic. I couldn’t believe the talent he had.
“I mean, obviously he’s a great athlete, but he is a really good basketball player and he’s a really good golfer. I was blown away with his ability with both those sports.”
Brady, of course, also hit the links with Bradley, Jordan and golfer Luke Donald. Bradley is a world-class golfer who won the PGA Championship in 2011, so when Brady started making bets with him, the 28-year-old figured he had it in the bag. Not exactly.
“Tom Brady, I’m going to give him 12 shots,” Bradley said. “This is easy money. I’m getting all cocky on the first tee and I get a match with him. And I win the first hole. I go, ‘TB, I’ll give you a buyout if you want.’ I just start chirping. And then he runs off … he plays the next 14 holes 4-under par. Beat me 6 and 5. He’s really good. I couldn’t believe it. … Those competitive juices kicked in and he smoked me.”
The man doesn’t like to lose, plain and simple.
