Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson Scores Screamer Vs. Manchester City (GIF)

A couple days of rest has done Jordan Henderson a world of good.

Henderson scored a stunning goal for Liverpool on Sunday in its 2-1 Premier League win over Manchester City. The Liverpool midfielder struck superbly after 11 minutes, giving the Reds an early lead over the defending Premier League champion at Anfield.

Philippe Coutinho started the goal-scoring sequence by dispossessing Vincent Kompany in the midfield. Coutinho then passed to Raheem Sterling, who found the Henderson with a reverse pass near the top of Manchester City’s penalty area. Henderson did the rest himself.

The goal was Henderson’s third in the Premier League this season, and Sterling setting him up is a familiar sight.

Edin Dzeko scored later in the first half to tie the game before Philippe Coutinho scored a superb game-winner in the second period.

Henderson missed Liverpool’s trip to Turkey on Thursday for its UEFA Europa League round of 32 second leg against Besiktas due to a minor ankle injury. The Reds fell to Besiktas on penalty kicks without Henderson in the midfield.
