North Florida Coach In Awesome Halftime Interview: ‘Dudes Are Dudes’ (Video)

The NCAA Tournament’s No. 16 seeds won’t be around long, but they sure know how to make an entrance.

On Tuesday, we were treated to Hampton coach Edward Joyner Jr. calling Jesus for advice on facing No. 1 Kentucky (Jesus hung up). On Wednesday, it was North Florida skipper Matthew Driscoll’s turn to take the spotlight during a TV timeout in the first half of his team’s First Four matchup against Robert Morris.

Steve Addazio would be proud. Here’s his full comment, via UpRoxx Sports.

“I just told the guys they obviously want this more than we do,” Driscoll said. “Nothing I can do about it. Between the black lines, it’s about players being players. Ballers make plays. Dudes are dudes. That’s the way life works.

“I just told them they just want it more than we do right now. There’s nothing I can change. There’s no schematic I can draw up or some special dust I can … Just play and be a baller.”

Amen, Matthew.

Turns out Driscoll is a pretty quirky guy, so this fantastic tidbit isn’t exactly out of character. Unfortunately for the 50-year-old Pittsburgh native, his halftime revelation wasn’t enough to propel the the Ospreys to victory, as Robert Morris eked out an 81-77 win.

Then again, the Colonials have to play Duke in the Round of 64, and there’s almost no chance they’ll win. That’s just how life works.
