Golf is a hard game, and Rory McIlroy expressed his frustration with it in the best way possible.

The usually unflappable Northern Irishman already was struggling at the WGC-Cadillac Championship on Friday when his approach shot on the eighth hole splashed directly into a pond. McIlroy wasn’t pleased, so he proceeded to hurl his three iron almost the same distance into the same pond.

Nice toss, Rory.

McIlroy salvaged a bogey on the hole but finished the round with a 70, leaving him eight strokes off the lead at -1 overall.

As you might expect, McIlroy was asked after the round why he decided to sling his valuable club deep into the watery depths. Apparently he wasn’t too fond of that three-iron.

“I just let frustration get the better of me,” he said, via ESPN. “It was heat of the moment, and if it had been any other club, I probably wouldn’t have, but I didn’t need a 3-iron for the rest of the round, so I thought why not.”
