Buffalo Sabres Sign BU Forward Evan Rodrigues To Entry-Level Contract

The Buffalo Sabres are expected to select Boston University forward Jack Eichel with the second overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. On Wednesday, they signed one of his linemates from the 2014-15 season.

Terriers winger Evan Rodrigues signed a two-year, entry-level contract Buffalo on Wednesday, the team announced. WEEI.com’s Scott McLaughlin first reported the story Tuesday night.

“Evan is a very talented young player who has displayed exceptional growth during his four years at BU,” Buffalo Sabres general manager Tim Murray said in a press release. “We look forward to adding another talented piece to our group.”

Rodrigues, who was an undrafted free agent prior to joining the Sabres, spent four seasons with the Terriers and tallied a career-high 61 points this campaign. The 21-year-old joins a Sabres prospect pool that includes several forwards with high-end skill, including center Sam Reinhart and right winger Hudson Fasching.
