Rick Porcello’s first start at Fenway Park will be a special one.
The Boston Red Sox pitcher gets the nod as the team opens its home slate Monday afternoon against the Washington Nationals. Porcello hopes his introduction to Red Sox Nation will go a little smoother than his first start, when he allowed three runs on six hits and two walks in a 4-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.
NESN’s Jerry Remy is confident that will be the case.
“He’s ready for today,” Remy said. “Look, the guy signed a new contract, he’s happy here, he wants to be in Boston, he gets a chance to face the Washington Nationals in front of the home crowd for the first time. So this is a very special day for Porcello.”
