Mets’ Bartolo Colon Chases Down A.J. Pierzynski With Agile Grace (Video)

We’ve made fun of Bartolo Colon a lot in the past.

But the New York Mets pitcher deserves all our admiration for his feat of athleticism Thursday.

Colon was on the mound in the sixth inning at Citi Field when he noticed Atlanta Braves catcher A.J. Pierzynski straying off first base. Colon stepped off, and with the swiftness of a cat, tracked down Pierzynski to tag him for the out.

Pierzynski appeared frozen on the play, probably because he wasn’t prepared for the 41-year-old’s youthful sprightliness.

Perhaps Jon Lester should take notes?

Colon had success throwing toward home plate, too, allowing three runs in seven innings to help the Mets earn their franchise record-tying 11th straight victory.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

Colon now is 4-0 on the season with a 2.77 ERA, 23 strikeouts and one shining display of athletic prowess.
