Wade Miley Just Latest Red Sox Starter To Struggle Early In Season (Video)

Wade Miley couldn’t get out of the third inning Sunday in Baltimore. Though his performance was cringeworthy, he was just the latest Red Sox starting pitcher to struggle.

If pitching stats were part of poker, the Sox’s rotation almost would have a straight. In the last week, they’ve given up one (Clay Buchholz), three (Justin Masterson), four (Rick Porcello), five (Joe Kelly) and six (Miley) earned runs. Alas, this is baseball, so that’s pretty bad.

Miley received the only loss of the bunch, though, as the other four were hit with no decisions.

“I’m not really concerned, I’ve just got to do a better job,” Miley said after the record-setting 18-7 loss to the Orioles. We’ve got an offense that’s going to score runs. I’ve just got to manage the game and do a better job. It’s obviously not fun to go out and let that happen, but I’ve got to put it behind me, think about next week and prepare for the next one.”
