Barcelona’s Luis Suarez Shakes Mehdi Benatia With Outrageous Flick (Video)

Luis Suarez should apologize to Mehdi Benatia, but he probably won’t.

Suarez outwitted Benatia with a sublime piece of skill Tuesday in Barcelona’s 3-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League. Suarez and Barcelona weren’t winners on the day, but they comfortably won the two-game semifinal series thanks to the Uruguayan’s heroics, both big and small.

Bayern Munich appeared to have Barcelona momentarily contained near the sidelines in the 32nd minute, but Suarez had other ideas. The Barcelona forward flicked the ball around the on-rushing Benatia and collected it on the other side, drawing gasps and laughs from all corners of the soccer world.

Suarez played just 49 minutes in the contest, but his impact reverberated throughout. In addition to embarrassing Benatia, Suarez assisted both of Neymar’s goals, helping Barcelona cruise to a 5-3 aggregate victory.

Suarez, who joined Barcelona from Liverpool last summer in one of the biggest transfers in history, has proven himself to be perfectly suited for success at the highest level during his abbreviated first season with the Spanish giant.
