The Anaheim Ducks went from potentially seeing their season go up in smoke to moving on to the Western Conference finals.
The Ducks got the scare of all scares when Corey Perry went down with a nasty-looking leg injury in the second period when he collided with Calgary Flames forward Matt Stajan.
The injury certainly looked bad, but Perry eventually was able to return — and it’s a good thing he did.
The veteran forward made his presence felt in overtime, as he was the one who was able to jam home a loose puck in front to give Anaheim the Game 5 win and help the Ducks advance to the Western Conference finals where they will face the Chicago Blackhawks.
There was no update on whether Perry actually suffered an injury or if he was just temporarily shaken up after getting dinged up in a sensitive area. Given the nature of the Stanley Cup playoffs when it comes to injuries, it’s likely we won’t get any sort of update either way any time soon.
