Doc Rivers knows a thing or two about losing.
The Los Angeles Clippers coach watched his team blow a 3-1 series lead against the Houston Rockets on Sunday, as the Clips exited the second round of the NBA playoffs after a 113-100 loss in Game 7. But Rivers didn’t want his players to get down on themselves. In fact, he told the Clippers in a touching postgame speech that heartbreak is just a part of the game, and they should use it to fuel themselves next season.

Rivers made the playoffs 10 times in his 13-year playing career, and this was his 12th postseason in 16 years as a coach. But Rivers has only won the Finals once as the Boston Celtics’ coach during the 2007-08 season.
