John Farrell’s “terrible decision” lingered overnight.
The Boston Red Sox manager was asked before Saturday’s game against the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field how long he beat himself up over the decision to pitch to Nelson Cruz in the ninth inning of Friday’s 2-1, walk-off loss. Farrell admitted it took some time.

Fortunately for the Red Sox, it appears Farrell’s head now is clear. It also should be noted that while Farrell shouldered the blame for Friday’s loss, there were other reasons for Boston’s crushing defeat.
Most notably, the Red Sox’s offense continues to struggle, which is a matter of execution rather than poor decision-making by Boston’s skipper.
