The Boston Red Sox started the season at an impressive 7-3. Then, they had to face a 22-game stretch against American League East teams, and things took a turn for the worse.
Friday’s 7-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays marked the 19th-straight division game for the Red Sox, and so far, they’ve only won six of those contests. Something about the AL East’s pitching, however weak it is, has quieted Boston’s bats, and its own rotation hasn’t fared well, either.
“I think it’s always difficult to go through when you go through a stretch like this, but it’s on us to get us out of it,” Friday’s starter Wade Miley said after the loss. “It’s just the way it is.”
