Kevin Love very well could end up wearing Boston Celtics green by the end of the summer, according to one NBA insider.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports said Wednesday on “The Jason McIntyre Show” on Yahoo! Sports Radio that there is a “real, legitimate possibility” that Love would sign with the Celtics if he chooses to decline his player option with the Cleveland Cavaliers and become a free agent.
“I think he’s going to look around,” Wojnarowski said, via SheridanHoops.com. “I think he’s going to look closely at Boston. I think he’ll look at L.A. I’m sure the Texas teams are going to try and get involved. …
“I think Boston would be interesting, because (head coach Brad) Stevens and Danny Ainge are a very interesting recruiting duo to sell him on how they’d use him there.”
Love’s first season in Cleveland, of course, ended at the hands of Celtics center Kelly Olynyk, who injured the Cavs forward’s shoulder during Game 4 of their first-round playoff series. It initially was speculated that Olynyk’s arm yank — which earned him a one-game suspension — might dissuade Love from signing with Boston, but those feelings of anger reportedly have subsided.
