Steven Gerrard To Release Second Autobiography, ‘My Story,’ On Sept. 24

Liverpool fans will be hanging on Steven Gerrard’s every word this fall.

Gerrard will release his second autobiography, titled “Steven Gerrard: My Story,” on Sept. 24, according to ESPN and the Liverpool Echo. The book will center around Gerrard’s lengthy careers with both Liverpool and England’s national team.

“I’m delighted to be working with Penguin and am looking forward to sharing my experiences with readers and fans,” Gerrard said on the announcement of “My Story,” according to ESPN. “I hope to give them a book that they’ll enjoy and which will be a lasting record of my time playing for club and country.”

Author Donald McRae is helping Gerrard write “My Story.” McRae promises the book will include some of Gerrard’s views on some of the biggest names in the soccer world.

“It’s been a pleasure and a privilege working with Steven Gerrard on his autobiography,” McRae said on his website, according to The Liverpool Echo. “I am writing the book, but Gerrard leads us through every exhilarating high and bruising low of his 27 years at Liverpool. It is a career full of contrast and drama.

“Many of the goals are incredible while the biggest games are riveting. His very public long goodbye is often painful, always moving. But the grittier, far more private details are the most powerful. The cast of characters offer intriguing and revealing insights into the addictive soap-opera of modern football –- from Luis Suárez to Brendan Rogers, José Mourinho to Rafa Benítez, Paolo Maldini to Andea Pirlo, Fernando Torres to Raheem Sterling, the list is richly varied.”

The publisher will release “My Story” during the early stages of Gerrard’s Major League Soccer career. Gerrard will join the Los Angeles Galaxy in July, having ended his Liverpool career after 17-plus years in the Reds’ first team.
