Don’t be fooled. The Boston Red Sox aren’t giving up on Rusney Castillo.
Although the Red Sox optioned Castillo to Triple-A Pawtucket before Tuesday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park, general manager Ben Cherington made it perfectly clear the organization still believes in the Cuban outfielder. Castillo, who signed a seven-year, $72.5 million contract last August, is expected to be a big part of Boston’s future.
Cherington also discussed Blake Swihart’s development, Mookie Betts’ emergence and the state of Boston’s offense Tuesday. You can catch it all in the video above.
