Isaiah Thomas Hangs Out With Floyd Mayweather At NBA Finals Game 5 (Photo)

This year’s NBA Finals haven’t been completely devoid of Boston Celtics.

Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas tweeted a photo Sunday night of him sitting courtside for Game 5 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors.

Joining Thomas for the occasion? None other than Floyd Mayweather.

While this might seem like a random celebrity pairing, Thomas and Mayweather actually are good friends. The boxer has attended a number of Thomas’ games over the years, including his Celtics debut in Los Angeles, and presented the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year runner-up with one heck of a birthday present this past February: a $200,000 Bentley.

“He’s given me a few gifts before, nice ones, but that one was unbelievable. It had everyone in the NBA talking,” Thomas said in an April interview with the Boston Herald. “Every team we played after that, guys would come up to me (and ask), ‘Where’s the Bentley, does Floyd got something good for me?’ It surprised everybody.”

There’s no word on how Thomas, Mayweather & Co. were received by the crowd at Oracle Arena, but the welcome given to Mayweather when he attended a game during the Western Conference semifinals was far from a warm one.

Thomas wasn’t the first Celtics player to take in a game of these Finals. C’s guard Avery Bradley was on hand last Thursday in Cleveland to watch the Warriors blow out the Cavs in Game 4. Golden State came out on top Sunday night, as well, to take a 3-2 series lead.
