“You just got to keep swinging.”
Those were the words of Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz after the team’s 4-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday. With the Red Sox riding recent success and gaining ground in the American League East, the team should definitely listen to the advice from their All-Star DH.
“We’re looking good,” Ortiz told reporters after the Red Sox win. “Our division is pretty tight so we need to keep improving and getting better.”
Outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. went deep for the first time this season in the second inning off Jays pitcher Marco Estrada, and Ortiz added another the following inning, marking the 38th time the 39-year-old has gone deep at the Rogers Centre.
22-year-old pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez started on the mound for the Sox, and gave the club six strong innings of one-run baseball. Closer Koji Uehara finished off the win with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
