Red Sox Introduce 13th Annual Red Sox Scholars Class At Fenway (Video)

The Red Sox Scholars program has been providing disadvantaged students in Boston with scholarships and enrichment programs since 2003, and Sunday marked the 13th annual introduction of this year’s class at Fenway Park.

Part of the program matches students up with mentors from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where the kids can explore the medical field and learn more about it from real professionals. NESN’s Tom Caron talked to Beth Israel President and CEO Dr. Kevin Tabb ahead of Sunday’s Oakland Athletics-Boston Red Sox matchup, and Tabb discussed what it’s been like to watch the first of the scholars go on to graduate from college.

“It’s incredible,” Tabb said. “It’s incredible to see where these kids have gone and what these kids are doing. There are graduates who are now involved in health sciences. There are graduates who are giving back and being part of the Red Sox Scholars program.”
