Jack Warner seemingly rode FIFA’s gravy train during good times and bad ones.
Federal investigators in the United States are investigating Warner’s connection to the disappearance of $750,000 meant for disaster relief efforts in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake, according to the BBC.
FIFA sent $250,000, and the South Korean Football Association added another $500,000 into accounts controlled at “Warner’s direction” for his “personal use,” the Guardian reports, citing the BBC’s viewing of Justice Department papers.
Warner, 72, was one of 14 people, including nine current and former FIFA officials, arrested in connection to the FIFA bribery and corruption scandal. Warner currently is in his native Trinidad and Tobago fighting extradition to the United States.
Warner served on FIFA’s Executive Committee from 1986 to 2011.
