When Xander Bogaerts walks up to the plate, DMX’s “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” blares from the ballpark speakers. Midway through his second full season in the majors, Bogaerts is finally making opposing pitchers believe it’s true.

His .296 batting average leads all American League shortstops, and the recent tear that’s seen him hit .483 with three doubles, five RBIs, two steals and four runs in his past eight games has fueled the case for Bogaerts to be an All-Star.

Bogaerts has been productive in the field as well. In 279 chances, he’s made just four errors, good for a .983 fielding percentage. He ranks third in the AL in both those categories.

NESN’s Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy broke down Bogaerts’ improved play on “Red Sox Gameday Live.” Check out their analysis in the video above.
