Colin Cowherd Kicked Off ESPN For Insensitive Comments; Host Apologizes

Colin Cowherd’s exit from ESPN came sooner than planned.

Cowherd, who made controversial comments about Dominican baseball players on his radio show Thursday, “will no longer appear” on the network, Mike Soltys, ESPN’s vice president of communications, tweeted Friday.

Cowherd soon apologized via Twitter.

Cowherd’s last day reportedly was to be next Friday before he made these comments, according to Sports Business Journal’s John Ourand.

Cowherd had a busy week. First, he announced his departure for a new job at FOX Sports. Then he had this to say about Dominican baseball players:

“The game is too complex? I’ve never bought into that, ‘Baseball’s just too complex,’ ” Cowherd said. “Really? A third of the sport is from the Dominican Republic.”

Those comments received criticism from Major League Baseball, as well as current players.
