New York Judge Tells NFL, NFLPA, Tom Brady: Tone Down Rhetoric

U.S. District Judge Richard Berman, like the rest of us, is sick of all the back and forth about Deflategate.

The NFL Players Association’s petition to vacate NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s four-game suspension of Tom Brady was moved to New York on Thursday, and Berman will reside over the case. In a court order Berman released Thursday, he basically told both Brady’s and the NFL’s respective camps to shut up.

“While this litigation is ongoing, it is appropriate (and helpful) for all counsel and all parties in this case to tone down their rhetoric,” Berman wrote.

Translation: Stop smearing Tom Brady and lying about what his cell phone destruction means, Roger. And no more 500-word Facebook posts, Tom.

Also notable: Berman isn’t happy about the NFLPA shopping for judges.

He’s got a valid point, but it’s not like the NFL wasn’t doing the same thing when it rushed to file its own lawsuit in New York before the Brady camp did.

Either way, this just got a lot more boring.
