The Boston Red Sox were dealt a serious scare Friday night when elbow tightness forced pitcher Clay Buchholz to leave his start against the New York Yankees during the fourth inning.

Catcher Sandy Leon was the one who signaled to the Red Sox’s dugout after chatting with Buchholz on the mound, and Leon told reporters after the game he advised the right-hander to play it safe with his injury.

The Yankees plated three runs in that third inning en route to a 5-1 win at Fenway Park.

Hear what Leon had to say in the video above.
