Tour De France Rider Crashes Into Pole After Being Pushed Off Road (Video)

There’s a reason your mom always made sure you were wearing a helmet when you rode your bike.

Team Sky cyclist Geraint Thomas was near the end of Stage 16 of the Tour de France on Monday when fellow rider Warren Barguil rode him off the course. Thomas couldn’t slow down and wound up flipping over the rope on the sideline and hitting a pole hard.

The Welsh cyclist was able to go on and finish the stage. He also told the BBC that he didn’t blame Barguil for what happened.

“Everyone knows it’s a dodgy descent, I just got taken out — 100 percent it was a mistake,” Thomas said. “I feel all right for now. I guess the doctor will ask me my name and date of birth soon.”
