The Dartmouth football team just got a couple of new teammates. Sort of.

The Dartmouth engineering school built the “Mobile Virtual Player,” which is a robotic tackling dummy that has the ability to move at players rather than stay stationary. The dummies are meant to reduce the risk of concussions from players tackling each other while being a more realistic solution than stationary dummies.

It took two years for the creators to develop the MVP, and they’re now working on a way to make it easier for coaches to control them.

Welcome to the future, football fans.
