Frank Lampard Debuts With New York City FC, Plays In MLS At Last (Video)

Frank Lampard enraged some New York City FC fans by delaying his arrival at the Major League Soccer team, but hard feelings now appear to have subsided.

Lampard received a raucous ovation from NYCFC fans Saturday when he entered a MLS game for the first time.

Lampard played the final 22-plus minutes in what ultimately was a 3-2 loss to the Montreal Impact.

Lampard, 37, forged a legendary career with Premier League club Chelsea and England’s national team between 2001 and 2014. He was widely expected to spend the full twilight of his career with NYCFC after announcing his signing with MLS, but his contract with City Football Group — the parent company NYCFC, allowed him to spend the 2014-15 Premier League season on loan at sister club Manchester City.

Lampard took the opportunity to play one last season in the Premier League, much to the chagrin of expectant fans of the MLS club. He now has finally strut his stuff at Yankee Stadium.

We guess it’s a case of “no hard feelings.”
