Joe Kelly’s first 16 starts of the season were not pretty. He posted a 2-6 record, had a 5.94 ERA and was sent down to Triple-A Pawtucket.

But Kelly appears to have turned a corner recently. He is 4-0 in his last four starts with a 3.22 ERA.

“Things are certainly headed in the right direction for Joe Kelly,” NESN’s Jerry Remy said on “Red Sox Gameday Live” before Boston took on the Chicago White Sox on Monday. “When I look at his pitching performances recently I think what he’s done is mixed in more of his secondary stuff.”
