Patriots Waive Injured Receiver Brian Tyms, Leaving Two Open Roster Spots

FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots’ receiving corps took another hit Monday.

The Patriots waived/injured receiver Brian Tyms, according to a source. If Tyms clears waivers, he will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

Tyms suffered a foot injury before the Patriots traveled to West Virginia for joint practices with the New Orleans Saints last week. He also suffered an upper body earlier in training camp.

Tyms’ release comes along with a flurry of roster moves from the Patriots. They also placed wide receiver Brandon Gibson on injured reserve, re-signed linebacker D.J. Lynch, reportedly signed wide receiver Reggie Wayne and cut fullback Eric Kettani.

The Patriots came into the day with 89 players on their training camp roster, and after the five transactions, they’re down to 88, leaving two open roster spots.
