Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner: John Farrell’s Lymphoma ‘Very Shocking’ (Video)

The Boston Red Sox will be without manager John Farrell for the rest of the 2015 season after he revealed Friday he has Stage 1 lymphoma.

The news was shocking for everyone in the organization, including Red Sox chairman Tom Werner. Werner joined NESN’s Tom Caron on “Red Sox First Pitch” before Boston’s game against the Seattle Mariners on Friday to discuss the situation.

“Well it was very shocking, but if there’s a silver lining to this it’s the doctor in Detroit caught it early,” Werner said. “John says it’s very, very curable. And thanks to modern medicine, he’s expecting a full recovery. That being said, it’s never happy news. John’s been such a leader for the Red Sox that it’s shocking for everybody.”
