Report: Last-Minute Tom Brady Deflategate Settlement Deal Very Unlikely

Don’t hold your breath waiting for a Deflategate settlement.

U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman hadn’t issued a ruling on Tom Brady’s four-game suspension appeal as of Wednesday afternoon. The holdup reportedly isn’t related to revived settlement talks.

Brady and the NFL failed to reach a settlement before Monday morning’s hearing. Gary Myers of the New York Daily News reported after the hearing that the league didn’t extend an official settlement offer to Brady but expressed a willingness to cut the New England Patriots quarterback’s suspension to three games if he admitted Deflategate guilt. That’s obviously an underwhelming proposal.

Judge Berman said after Monday’s hearing he expected to render a decision by the end of this week. The judge reiterated that stance Tuesday afternoon in a one-sentence court order.
