Reports: Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson Breaks Foot, Out Up To Eight Weeks

The good news Liverpool fans were expecting to hear about Jordan Henderson has turned very bad.

Henderson suffered a broken foot in practice on Friday, The Liverpool Echo’s James Pearce and The BBC report. Henderson, Liverpool’s captain, reportedly will undergo surgery Monday and require two months to recover from the injury.

Henderson will miss a crucial period of the season for the Reds, in which they visit Everton, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City among other challenging contests. He also will play no part in England’s final two qualifiers for the 2016 UEFA European Championship.

Henderson already had missed the previous Liverpool’s previous four games because of a heel injury for which he flew to America last week for specialist treatment. The injections Henderson received in the U.S. helped him cope with the pain, and he was in contention to play against Norwich City on Sunday when he suffered the broken foot during a practice session. The two injuries are unrelated.

Liverpool now must face some of its toughest tests without the services of its captain and midfield leader.
