Rex Ryan: Rob Gronkowski A Tough Matchup But Also ‘A Hell Of An Actor’

Rex Ryan just can’t get past how great of an actor Rob Gronkowski is.

Forget that the New England Patriots tight end typically burns Ryan-designed defenses on the football field — the Buffalo Bills head coach can’t get over Gronk’s acting skills.

“I think we’ll stand by our record against him,” Ryan told the media, via ESPN.com. “He’s tough. There’s no question. He’s huge. He’s a hell of an actor.”

Ryan and Gronk both starred in the “Madden: The Movie” trailer last month, but the coach still was so starstruck that he had trouble finishing sentences.

“He’s like 6-8, 6-7, whatever he is. And he moves good,” Ryan began. “Guy makes so many … you know, he can adjust on the … I don’t care if it’s short, long, whatever.”

Then Ryan apparently regained his composure.

“I mean, he’s got great body control,” the coach said of Gronk. “He’s just a huge target. And he can run a lot better than I think people know.”

In eight games against Ryan’s defenses, Gronk has 39 career catches for 461 yards and five touchdowns. He had five catches for 94 yards and a whopping three TDs in Thursday night’s opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
