Tom Brady Picks Bill Belichick Over Pope Francis: ‘In Bill We Trust’

FOXBORO, Mass. — It’s a question that probably has been asked thousands of times in barrooms around Boston: Bill Belichick vs. the pope — who ya got?

For Tom Brady, the answer to that one is simple.

“In Bill we trust,” the New England Patriots quarterback said with a smile Wednesday. “Are you kidding me?”

Brady has some credibility when it comes to papal matters, too. He actually had the pleasure of meeting Pope John Paul II more than a decade ago during a trip to Rome. The current pope, Pope Francis, was in the news Wednesday as he visited the White House.

“It was very brief, my experience with him,” Brady said. “But it was pretty cool, I think. I saw some TV coverage (of Pope Francis’ visit), so I’m sure it makes for some pretty crazy traffic in New York City or in Washington, D.C. — wherever he’s at (Wednesday). But well worth it.”
