Connor McDavid’s NHL career is just a few weeks old, but he’s already opened eyes of some of the sport’s best.
The Edmonton Oilers rookie might have turned in his best work Wednesday night.
McDavid scored his fourth goal in seven games, but it was how he scored that goal that was most impressive. The No. 1 pick deked Detroit Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek out of his pads for an undoubted highlight-reel goal.
Not bad. Not bad at all.
The goal received plenty of praise from all corners of the hockey world, but one compliment stood out above the others. Legendary winger Jaromir Jagr — no stranger to jaw-dropping scores himself — chimed in with a rare tweet to give McDavid some props.
I took a selfie when I watch McDavid score goal tonight. Not bad for 18 years old 🙂 pic.twitter.com/8VZdCuMLzQ

Unfortunately for Jagr, he’ll have to wait until Jan. 10 to get his first in-person look at McDavid.
