University of Michigan students couldn’t wait for Saturday’s football clash with Michigan State, so they fired the first shot ahead of kickoff.
The two Big Ten powers will face off in a huge matchup Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor. It’s arguably one of the biggest matchups in the recent history of the storied rivalry, so Wolverines fans made a preemptive strike against one of the most famous Spartans.
A group of (presumably) Michigan students descended upon Michigan State’s campus in East Lansing and vandalized the statue honoring Magic Johnson, the NBA legend and Michigan State alum. In addition to painting Johnson’s face gold, the Michigan fans also threw a Michigan “M” on Johnson’s chest.

That wasn’t the only damage they did, either.
