Patriots’ Stephen Gostkowski Named AFC Special Teams Player Of The Week

New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday for his Week 7 performance against the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium.

Gostkowski converted all three of his field-goal attempts Sunday against the Jets. He nailed kicks from 46 yards, 38 yards and 24 yards in the Patriots’ 30-23 win over their AFC East rival, making him a perfect 15-for-15 on field-goal attempts this season.

Gostkowski also converted all three of his extra-point attempts against New York. He’s made an NFL-record 435 consecutive extra points dating to his rookie season in 2006, including all 24 of his attempts this season.

Gostkowski also was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September, so the 31-year-old could be on his way to a fourth Pro Bowl selection. He leads the NFL with 69 total points and 35 touchbacks amid New England’s 6-0 start to the season.
