Boston Red Sox pitcher Rick Porcello understands the importance of using your muscles and entire body. As a professional athlete, his job literally depends on it.
So when he learned about Team Joseph several years ago while pitching for the Detroit Tigers, he wanted to help.
Team Joseph is a charity that supports children diagnosed with Duchenne, a form of muscular dystrophy that affects proteins whose job is to protect muscles. Most often, development of the disease leads to the inability to walk as muscles break down.
NESN’s “Red Sox Gameday Live” did a special feature on Porcello and his work relationship with a young boy named Kyle, a member of Team Joseph. Check it out in the video above.
