David Beckham Named People Magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ In 2015 (Photo)

David Beckham’s soccer career is over, but that hasn’t stopped his image from reaching new heights.

People magazine named Beckham the “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2015.

The celebrity-focused American magazine tabbed Beckham for the annual honor Tuesday because of his twin statuses as a superstar and a family man.

“It’s a huge honor,” Beckham told People. “And I’m very pleased to accept.”

Beckham, 40, has been involved in various business and humanitarian pursuits since retiring from professional soccer in 2013. His wealth and profile have made him an icon around the world in his post-playing days, but he said he and his family don’t view him the same way as People’s readers might.

“I never feel that I’m an attractive, sexy person,” Beckham said. “I mean I like to wear nice clothes and nice suits and look and feel good, but I don’t ever think of myself that way.

“We kind of laughed about it with the boys, and the boys kind of laughed at me and said, ‘Really?! Sexiest man alive? Really?’ ”

There’s nothing like family to keep one grounded.
