The Reds travel south to Vicarage Road for a Sunday afternoon clash, eager to taste victory again after losingĀ at Newcastle United and drawing at home with West Bromwich Albion.
They will take up that challenge without Milner, however, as JĆ¼rgen Klopp confirmed at his pre-match press conference the midfielder is not fit enough to be involved.
The manager told reporters at Melwood: āMilly has a problem with his calf. It will take a few days —Ā we made a scan.
āIt was after warming up in training, not too much, and after warming up he felt something so we didnāt want to take a risk.
āWhen we made the assessment we saw a little muscle injury. We have to wait. I donāt know how long, but for the weekend heās not an option.ā
There was much more positive news regarding the fitness of Dejan Lovren, though.
The centre-back had to be substituted late on against the Baggies last weekend after suffering a cut that was initially feared to be a serious injury.
But Klopp said today: āThat was one of the bestĀ (pieces of) news after the West Brom game — itās not that serious.”
