Rajon Rondo Suspended One Game For Incident With Official Vs. Celtics
Rajon Rondo is facing a bit of late punishment for an incident that got him ejected in Mexico City more than a week ago.
The NBA has suspended the Sacramento Kings guard one game without pay for “directing a derogatory and offensive term toward a game official and not leaving the court in a timely manner upon his ejection,” the league announced Friday.
The incident took place during the third quarter of Sacramento’s game against Rondo’s former team, the Boston Celtics, on Dec. 3. Rondo approached referee Bill Kennedy after a foul call and stared him down. After Kennedy gave Rondo two technical fouls and tossed him from the game, the Kings guard appeared to have some words for the referee as his teammates tried to restrain him.
The Celtics beat the Kings 114-97.
Rondo will miss Sacramento’s game against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night.
