Chargers, Raiders, Rams Officially Apply For Los Angeles Relocation

It looks like Los Angeles is getting a football team.

The San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders and St. Louis Rams all officially filed applications to relocate to their teams to Los Angeles on Monday night, the NFL announced.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport provided the NFL’s statement.

The Chargers released a lengthy statement.

“We have tried for more than 14 years, through nine separate proposals and seven different mayors, to create a world-class stadium experience for fans in San Diego,” the statement read in part. “Despite these efforts, there is still no certain, actionable solution to the stadium problem. We are sad to have reached this point.”

The Rams added in a separate statement that any move will be for the 2016 season.

One interesting note: All three franchises previously played in L.A. and later moved — San Diego in 1960, Oakland from 1982 to 1994, and St. Louis from 1946 to 1994.
