Don Sweeney: Bruins Have ‘Been In Discussions’ With Loui Eriksson (Video)

Loui Eriksson, who is on track to have his best season with the Boston Bruins, is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Reports came out earlier this week that Eriksson and the Bruins were engaged in preliminary contract talks, which Boston general manager Don Sweeney talked about on “Bruins Face-Off Live” before Thursday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks.

“We’ve been in discussions with Loui, and the first priority will be to get him signed,” Sweeney said. “Obviously as a player entering the UFA (unrestricted free agent) market, he’s trying to gauge what that may be, and we’re trying to do the same. He’s been an important player for us.”

You can hear more from Sweeney on Eriksson and Denna Laing in the video with NESN’s Dale Arnold, Barry Pederson and Billy Jaffe above.
