Matt Barnes doesn’t sound ready to let bygones be bygones.
Barnes was suspended two games last month for reportedly brawling with Derek Fisher after learning the New York Knicks head coach was dating his estranged wife, Gloria Govan. The two will cross paths Saturday when Barnes’ Memphis Grizzles host Fisher’s Knicks, but don’t expect them to exchange pleasantries.
“I don’t talk to snakes,” Barnes told the New York Daily News on Thursday.
This doesn’t mean the beef is over. Govan, a reality TV star, is the mother of Barnes’ twin sons, and Barnes and Fisher used to be friends and teammates. The whole situation is drama at its finest.
“I know I got to keep my mouth shut because then he’ll run and tell,” Barnes told the Daily News. “So we’re focused on playing that team (the Knicks). And when I’m retired, him and I will cross paths again.”
Sounds like a threat. And with Barnes turning 36 in March, we might not have to wait long for the rematch.
