Brad Marchand’s torrid goal-scoring pace has earned him some love from the NHL.
The league on Monday honored the Boston Bruins winger as its third star of the week, rewarding him for a four-game span that included four goals and three assists.
Marchand has been one of the NHL’s hottest scorers for close to a month now, tallying 13 goals over his last 13 games to up his team-leading season total to 28. His most recent goal, which came eight seconds into Sunday’s 6-5 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, tied his single-season career high.
Red Wings center Pavel Dastyuk, who recorded two goals and an assist in the win over the Bruins, was selected as the NHL’s first star of the week. New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist was tabbed as the second star.
The Bruins continue their six-game road trip Tuesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
