Monday wasn’t a regular spring training game for David Ortiz — it was his final home contest at JetBlue Park.
But before Ortiz stepped into the batter’s box at Fenway South for the last time, the Boston Red Sox honored their designated hitter with a pregame ceremony. Ortiz received a seat from every spring training ballpark he called home in Fort Myers, Fla., a golf cart and a sign with the new street name outside JetBlue Park — David Ortiz Way.
It was a special day at the ballpark, and Ortiz shared his gratitude for it on Twitter after the Red Sox’s 5-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.
