Drew Hutchison’s week is off to a very, very bad start.
The Toronto Blue Jays pitcher on Sunday suffered one of the weirder baseball injuries we’ve seen in a while, leaving his start against the Tampa Bay Rays after taking a ball to the head. However, the head shot didn’t come off a Tampa Bay bat. Instead, it was friendly fire.
Toronto catcher A.J. Jimenez attempted to throw out a base stealer, but his throw was far too low. So low, in fact, that the ball smoked a crouching Hutchison in the back of the head.

The situation was made even more frustrating by the fact that the right-hander was pitching very well, with four-plus scoreless innings before being plunked.
Luckily, Hutchison declared himself OK after the game, mad at himself more than anything for getting into the situation.
Drew Hutchison said he's fine, not even a bump on his head. "That’s what you get for being dumb and walking the leadoff guy." #BlueJays

It gets worse, though. Hutchison was optioned to Triple-A on Monday morning.
