Former Oakland University basketball player Sebastien Bellin was critically injured in the terrorist attack in Brussels, Belgium, on Tuesday, according to Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Eisenberg.

Oakland coach Greg Kampe discovered a tweet (warning: link contains graphic content) from Bellin’s former Belgian professional team with a photo of Bellin bleeding on the ground in Zaventem international airport. The picture came in the wake of ISIS bombings that killed at least 34 people, according to The Associated Press.

“When I saw it, I had to sit down,” Kampe told Yahoo Sports.”It’s gut-wrenching. It’s the worst possible feeling you could imagine.”

Bellin reportedly had one surgery to remove shrapnel from his leg and was being prepped for a second surgery to remove shrapnel from his hip, according to Kampe. He remains in intensive care.

“They dropped him at the airport this morning to come to New York,” Kampe said. “Six minutes after he was dropped off, he was in line to check in and the bomb went off 100 yards away from where he was. His luggage was blown up. His phone’s gone. He’s currently in intensive care. I couldn’t reach him yet. …

“I hope that anyone who reads this will say a prayer.”
