The Atlantic Coast Conference has a record six teams in the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16, starting with the No. 3 seed Miami Hurricanes. But Miami, which beat two double-digit seeds in Buffalo and Wichita State to advance to the second week, faces a tougher challenge Thursday night.
The Hurricanes’ next opponent is the No. 2 seed Villanova Wildcats, who are coming off blowout wins over UNC Asheville and Iowa, in one of the South Region’s Sweet 16 matchups at KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky.
March hasn’t been Villanova’s favorite month since it reached the Final Four in 2009, but the Wildcats avoided another early-round upset this year, and have looked pretty dominant along the way.
The winner of Miami-Villanova faces the winner of No. 1 Kansas and No. 5 Maryland in the Elite Eight on Saturday.
