Many college basketball fans might not have been exposed to the Jakob Poeltl and the No. 3 seed Utah Runnin’ Utes. Those fans are in for a pleasant surprise Thursday night.
Poeltl, the Pac-12 Player of the Year, is one of the best players in the country and a likely NBA lottery pick this June. The 7-foot-1 Poeltl could run rampant through the Midwest region and help Utah bust more than a few brackets along the way.
But first, Utah must dispose of No. 14 seed Fresno State, the stingy and defensive-minded Mountain West Conference Tournament champions, who upset San Diego State last week to earn its first trip to the Big Dance since 2001.
